Program Highlights

Dear B3 community,

Only a few weeks left till October 14th!

The countdown is on: get ready for B3 Festival of the Moving Image 2023 in Frankfurt, a festival for moving image art in the digital age, and the only one of its kind in Germany.

Instead of taking a summer break, the B3 team have been busy inviting speakers and artists to present the most innovative trends in film, art, games VR/AR and AI. We're excited to announce the first highlights of our festival programme:

German hiphop pioneer Dennis "Denyo" Lisk (founder of the German hip-hop band "Beginner") will perform at the opening ceremony, hosted by filmmaker and author Julia Finkernagel.

Lakota Nation (Lakota Nation vs. United States)

LAKOTA NATION VS. UNITED STATES chronicles the Lakota Indians’ quest to reclaim the Black Hills, sacred land that was stolen in violation of treaty agreements. A searing, timely portrait of resistance, the film explores the ways America has ignored its debt to Indigenous communities, and ponders what might be done today to repair the wrongs of the past.

Molli and Max in the Future

A grounded romantic comedy set in an absurd world, MOLLI AND MAX takes the character-driven romance of a movie like "When Harry Met Sally" and combines it with an everything-but-the-kitchen-sink sci-fi universe found in shows like “Futurama or “Rick and Morty." Through a combination of old-school practical visual effects (hand-built models, miniatures, puppets, stop-motion animation, and rear-projection) and cutting edge technology (Unreal Engine and LED Volumes) the filmmakers have created a universe like no other. Tentacles! Robots! Glorp!
