I Express Myself Best in Silence

"I express myself best in silence" is a nonlinear exploration of the limits of language. Through a stream of consciousness based in digitized medieval landscapes, the film’s abstract narrative framework battles with complex questions of being and the multiple self. This computer-animated work reframes and reimagines queerness through a digital lens, whilst mirroring the canon of art history and mythology.

  • Ben Dawson

Ben Dawson (he/they) is a queer artist based in east London, working between digital and physical spaces. Through his practice, Dawson considers the convergence and divergence of our identities between the ‘real’ and the ‘virtual’ in the age of the internet’s omnipresence. His work poses ethical questions around the notions of autonomy, agency and fiction, and considers the complex governance of bodies by socio-political conditions.
