Sophie Koko Gate

Sophie Koko Gate is an animator based in London. Her practice both resembles and resists the features of mainstream animation, playing with the formulaic nature of storytelling to evoke the satisfying effect of conventional narrative without there ever being one. Her films have been screened at Tate Modern, London; Edinburgh Film Festival; Sundance Film Festival, Utah, USA; BFI London Film Festival; Tel Aviv Festival, Israel; Sydney Film Festival; London International Animation Festival and SXSW Austin Texas, USA. Sophie Koko Gate is part of the Film London Jarman Award 2023 shortlist.
