The B3 Lifetime Achievement Award goes to the incredible Margarethe von Trotta!
The countdown is on! In just under two months, from 13th to 20th October 2024, the B3 Festival of the Moving Image in Frankfurt am Main will once again become the hotspot for international, national, and local creatives and media professionals, as well as the general public. We will be showcasing the latest innovative trends in film, art, VR, games, and AI.
This year, we are making a statement for DEMOCRACY and dedicating our annual focus to this vital societal form for a variety of important reasons.
As part of this, we are proud to present the Lifetime Achievement Award to the renowned director, screenwriter, and actress Margarethe von Trotta during our opening and awards show on 13th October 2024 at the ASTOR Film Lounge in Frankfurt. Both nationally and internationally, she is regarded as one of the most significant figures in New German Cinema. Her work makes a substantial contribution to the discourse on democratic themes. Among her best-known works are Marianne & Juliane/The German Sisters, Rosa Luxemburg, and Hannah Arendt. Her films often centre around strong female protagonists and are characterised by deep character studies and a meticulous exploration of historical and socio-political issues.
Throughout her career, Margarethe von Trotta has received numerous national and international awards.
We will provide you with more detailed information on the full B3 programme, its highlights, guests, and additional award recipients soon.
